Let x be the initial investment in A and y be the initial investment in B.
Let r be the rate of interest for A and s be the rate of interest for B.
Let n be the number of years.

Question Stem : s = (3/2)*r ; x = ?
Money in A = x + r*x*n
Money in B = y + S*y*n

St. (1) : n = 1 ; r*x = 50 ; s*y = 150
Since s = (3/2)*r ;
s*y = 150 ;
(3/2)*r*y = 150 ;
r*y = 100 ; Also, r*x = 50
Combining these two, we get : y = 2x
This does not give us the value of x.
Thus, Insufficient.

St. (2) : y = 2x
This is the same as the previous statement.
Thus, Insufficient.

St. (1) and (2) together :
Since both statements are the same, taken together they will not give us anything extra.
Thus, Insufficient.

Answer : E
