45% of these have AC => 38 have ACs
Since we have 100 ppl, 38 gives us 38%

anything below 600 is 5% and 8% on sales over 600.
5%*600 + 8%(800-600) = 46

IMO- 1- E, 45% of 95%=38%
2- 0% up to $199 of sales + 5% for next $400 of sales (600-200)+ 8% for next $200 sales`(800-600)=36.
I agree the second problem is poorly worded and creates ambiguity.
