Let take C - chairs in each row

R - total no of rows

So \(R=C-1\)
Total # chairs = \(C(C-1)\)

Statement 1.

Total # of chairs = 72

\(C(C-1)=72\)

\(9*8=72\)

\(C=9, R=8\)

Statement sufficient

Statement 2.

\(2C-1=17\)

\(C=9\)

Statement sufficient

D
