Ans.: Most commonly used letter is E and letter is THE.

POTABLE (fit to drink) with PORTABLE (that can be carried about)

Remember by: Potable water; Portable TV.

Don't confuse:

QUIET (calm) with QUITE (fairly or very)

e.g. The streets are quiet.
e.g. I'm quite willing to help.

Don't confuse:

RESEARCH (a serious investigation in order to discover new facts) with RE-SEARCH (searching again).[/color][/color]

1. DEADLY and LETHAL mean the same and used about weapons or poisons. DEADLY is also used of illness but not LETHAL.

2. PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS, a lung disease among miners, is the longest dictionary word in English.

3. NEITHER is always used with a singular noun and verb.
e.g. Neither answer is right.

4. NEITHER OF is used with a plural noun/pronoun & the verb can be singular or plural.
e.g. Neither of us has/have ever been to America before.

5. NONE is used for a group of 3 or more.
e.g. None of my friends helped me.

6. NEITHER is used for a group of 2.
e.g. Neither of my parents helped me.

1. Use THOUSAND after a number such as three thousand men. Don't say 'three thousands men'. Use THOUSANDS before OF e.g. thousands of men.

2. IGNORANT is followed by ABOUT and OF.

e.g. Are you ignorant of economics?
They are ignorant about the range of job opportunities.

Don't confuse:

FORMALLY = in a formal manner
FORMERLY = previously, at an earlier time

Accept and Except

We ACCEPT your apology.
Everybody was there EXCEPT Stephen.

Adverse and Averse

ADVERSE = unfavorable
AVERSE = opposed

Advice and Advise

ADVICE (noun) = recommendation
ADVISE (verb) = recommend
