it sort of is for 80% of it. Just a number of rules that can be learnt and followed. I have even created a checklist at one point that I would run a sentence through if I did not know what was wrong.
Do you still have that checklist? if soplease share if not then give us some guidelines so that we can make it-Having a checklist is an excellent idea!!!!

For some reason I destroyed it with another book or threw them away in other words.
But I used a basic Checklist for errors:
1. Check verbs and subjects
2. Tenses
3. Parallel structure
4. use of adjectives/adverbs
5. If applicable comparisons, subjunctive mood, modals
6. ?????????
I had about 9 fields, but you know where I got all of them?????
Those were my mistakes from the past - I just saw that I made such a mistake and I would note that - later I would include it in the checklist as to make sure I dont' miss it again.
