So the test creators are moving away from idioms. Does this mean that idioms will not be helpful in identifying the solution, or that the wrong answer choices will include flaws other than unidiomatic expressions?

Idioms are being phased out and it will be unlikely for an idiom to be the reason for an answer to be correct or incorrect.
You might still see idioms on the test however - they may be in the answer choices and varied in their idiomatic ways. However, they largely be there to confuse you and distract you from what the real answer is. The SC questions will be gearing more towards answer choices that focus on getting the correct meaning.
