I just read an article in the following website:

The passage introduces the failure of an experiment for a mission.Then it talks about the motivation behind this experiment and the clues from previous experiments.
Finally, the author concludes the passage by mentioning that the scientists have not lost hopes yet.He also forecasts about the future experiments to be held for the same mission.
Could you please come out few main points for this passage?
I am just getting that the tone of the author is optimistic.
Do we have the main point of the passage in para 2 and 3 here?

Hi,
The main point is the opening paragraph.
People had hoped to find methane on Mars, but could not.
Para 2: Gives the reasons for their initial hopes. That they thought Methane based life was possible
Para 3: Goes on to explain their methodology for trying to find that Methane.
