Hi,
Recently I realized that the noun "The United States" can stand both as a noun and as possessive noun. Are there any more such noun which can stand as a possessive noun without an apostrophe? Any examples or reference material will be helpful.

Can you provide examples of The United States used as a possessive without an apostrophe? I can think of examples where it would appear to be possessive, but it's just an adjective, i.e. The United States Navy. In this case the Navy could possibly be viewed as the possession of the United States, but 'United State's is an adjective much like 'The Magnificent Navy" (Magnificent being the adjective).
There are cases where United States would be possessive, i.e. the United States' role in international law. Here 'role' is the noun and United States is in the possessive.
I would be happy to review any examples where you have seen United States used in the possessive without an apostrophe.
