I gave my GMAT on May 22, 2014 and scored 740 (Q49, V41). Although I think I could have done better in Quant: I missed first 3 quant questions as I thought them to be part of the tutorial, I am satisfied with my overall GMAT score. I was very happy to see a 740 on the screen. But all my happiness vanished when I saw a score of 3/23rd percentile in IR. I am still to get AWA, but I am pretty sure to get a good score.
I am planning to apply in top 10 school for January 2015 and September 2015 intake, but I am not able to decide whether I need to retake the exam. I will sincerely appreciate if someone can please guide me whether IR of 3/23rd percentile is a big red flag for b-schools.

Since the IR section on the GMAT is still relatively new most schools are still sorting out there stance on what these scores mean. Early indicators do suggest that there's not a huge correlation between that score and performance in b-school so the majority of schools are not really using it as an assessment tool. This could change as schools get more information and is probably still even now a school by school decision. but overall it does not mean much and I would not recommend taking your GMAT over to improve this, there are just better uses of your time during the application season.
Hope this helps!
