At one point, she believed GMAT wasn’t for her. After scoring 595, self-doubt crept in and she questioned her potential. But instead of quitting, she made the right strategic changes. The result? A remarkable comeback to 695. Check out how Saakshi did it.

Just got a quick (and very easy) question about the following statement:
The Queen of Fire Ants, which double the size of her workers, can live up to 30 years.
The latest model of Ford Focus, which is more expensive than its closest rival, is described as the most comfortable family car of the year.
Although above statements clearly modify the subject, the subject and modifier are separated by a preposition. Are they consider correct in GMAT?
Any help would be very much appreciated
Thanks, :-D
Gordon

Dear Gordon, I'm happy to respond.
You need to understand the typical exceptions to the Modifier Touch Rule, the most important of which is the distinction of vital vs. non-vital noun modifier. See: https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/gmat-gramm ... modifiers/ Typically, the short preposition phrase noun modifiers are vital noun modifiers. Which queen? The queen of the fire ants. Which latest model? The latest model of Ford Focus. Those are vital noun modifiers.
