I believe that I am not the only one who noticed that OG Verbal contains a lot of errors. SC asks for correct usage of grammar/idioms/etc. Nevertheless, in RC & CR are a lot of semantic/idiom errors. One example - due to. Due to is a noun modifier, and in SC is never used as a way to express reasoning. However, I have noticed that in CR it is incorrectly used. Moreover, in SC, "when compared/contrasted" and "as compared/as contrasted" will always be incorrect, but in CR/RC again - used as if that it should be.
How can one improve his/her Verbal when even OG contains mistakes?
Just wondering..

Dear mvictor, I'm happy to respond. What you say is quite true. The SC hold up incredibly high standards, and the CR and RC questions don't always abide by these standards. This is annoying, it's true. One would like them to be consistent, but then again, even a man as brilliant as Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds."
My friend, here's what I am going to say. So much of GMAT success is about attitude. So much of success in Life is about attitude. Because I deeply want to see you improve your GMAT performance, I will be blunt. Your post has tones of self-pity and victim-status and blame and complaining. None of that will catalyze your GMAT success. The OG has errors--- so what? Your post demonstrates that you already understand many of these errors well, so you are already well on your way toward achieving an high standard of excellence that then GMAT. Stop looking to authority figures to set the bar for you: set it for yourself, and set it as high as possible. You do not need to be troubled by the limitations of the OG, or any GMAT expert or company. Don't take on anyone else's limitations as your own, and focus exclusively on breaking through your own limitations. Time spent bewailing the limitations of anything outside of yourself is time utterly wasted. Commit yourself fully to self-responsibility, fully occupy your own intelligence and power, and strive for the best you can be. Be exclusively concerned with your own excellence---whether anyone else is or is not achieving excellence is simply not your concern. You are 100% responsible for your own life and your own success: embrace that fully. From the OG, from any GMAT experts or companies, take whatever you can, but rely exclusively on yourself and your own commitment to excellence. If you are truly committed to excellence, no one can take that away from you. If you are not committed to excellence, then really no one else can help you reach your potential.
My friend, my desire for you is to see you achieve the peak of your potential on the GMAT. I wish you the very best of good fortune in your studies.
Mike
