Embedded questions
Question 1
I am running through the Gmat ultimate grammar book, p.g 69, and it has a topic on embedded question.
Example of embedded questions from the book
Normal: when will the court hearing begin
Embedded: They haven’t determined when the court hearing will begin.
Embedded: The girls asked the ranger how far it was to the next camping point
Are the following correct?
The girls asked the ranger how far is the next camping point
The girls asked the ranger that stood at the post anyone knew how far it was to the next camping point
The girls asked the ranger that stood at the post: “Anyone knew how far it was to the next camping point ?”

Next is, as I kept pondering on the questions, I have questions on the verb tenses, are the following correct ?

Verb questions
-simple past vs past perfect-
The girl asked the ranger that stood at the post anyone knew how far it was to the next camping point *when* she *had lost* her way out.
The girl asked the ranger that stood at the post anyone knew how far it was to the next camping point *after* she *lost* her way out.
-simple present vs simple perfect-
