Hi,

I'm a native English speaker, but learnt it British style, not American style.

Would I have to switch to American spelling & grammar in the AWA?

amercian style: favor
british style: favour

american style: specialize
british style: specialise

But the answer to the initial question is no... :)

Oh Spelling!

The Erater does not care abt spellings! However, its advisable to follow the US English Spellings, cos if the Erater does not understand the sentence you will not get credit!

Just be on the safe side.

Thanks all for the advice!

Yeah more spelling than grammar. Also certain phrases seem more American than British.

Glad it doesn't matter :)

AWA scores also depends on the structure, clarity of your argument, and do not depend solely on spellings.

It'd be safe to check with PV on this tho.
