Hi fellow GC members,
I am writing this because i am facing a situation very common to non-native speakers - issues with Verbal.
I have gone through various posts and they mostly stress that GC Verbal is not reflective of Official Verbal either in algorithm or in quality. I get the point but having given the tests - 2 six months ago and 1 recently, i have hardly made any progress(rather scored 2 points lesser).
Firstly, for SC I referred to Kaplan Verbal book and then Manhattan guide. Also, I have taken e-gmat course which is about to expire but that seems to have not helped me. May be I am missing the crux here since the course is very vast and covers the Verbal concepts extensively. I feel more confident after going through the whole course(too time consuming as i see) though whenever I take a test I don't see any improvement. I take too much time to get through the questions ultimately the whole section that i am normally left with 7-8 questions to answer in last 10 minutes irrespective of third party test providers, so i finish the section always in a rush.
In the recent GC Verbal test i scored a dismal 22 though nowhere during the test i felt that i am lagging behind(actually i ensured that i don't). However, it seems that i have compromised on the accuracy as I score between 28-30 for tests provided by other parties. I must mention that i got a very hard RC passage(3rd) in the peak of the time(7 Q's in ~12 minutes left) where i just got one correct.
If I do the questions non-timed I get around 70% accuracy in Verbal. It feels very bad that I am so bad in Verbal and it also affecting my Quant for losing confidence.
What should i do..?!!
OR
I should not bother much with GC Verbal tests(I am sure a improvement in GC test would be a good reflection of my overall verbal improvement).

First of all, I do understand the frustration that you are going through, having been prepping hard all these months. However, from my experience as a GMAT Verbal Tutor for over 15 years, I can assure you that there is no reason to lose heart. And am not saying this simply to make you feel better. My experience tells that getting a good score in your case is very doable.
For Me to be able to guide you better, Could you please inform me about the following points:
1. Apart from GC Tests, what other tests have you taken?
2. What resources have you used for your verbal practice. So you have done concepts from various sources as you mentioned, but what about practice questions?
3. What is your biggest weak point out of SC, CR RC? Have you been able to identify specific sub topics within each of these sections that you are particularly missing out on?
4. When are you planning to take the real exam and what is target score?
The GC Tests are indeed great resources for Q, especially if you want to test yourself on hard level questions. But for verbal, their pattern of questions is not very indicative of what the real test has to offer. Thus it is difficult to compare whether they are easier or harder since their pattern is different from the real exam.
Would be able to suggest you some guidelines after knowing the above answers.

Thank you for responding promptly.
I am yet give any official test after preparing for last 7 months. Previously, gave 1st GMAT test in July'2019. I plan to give GMAT Prep3,4,5 and 6 early next month to get a better picture.
