thecoronafever - However can be used as a conjunction to connect two independent clauses BUT only using the correct punctuation. Please refer to the below examples. Please note that sentences starting with "However" acts as an independent clause.

Incorrect #1: John is a great swimmer, however he lost the recent swimming competition.
Correct #1: John is a great swimmer; however, he lost the recent swimming competition.

Incorrect #1: John is late for school, however, given he is driving at twice his regular speed, he will reach on time.
Correct #1: John is late for school. However, given he is driving at twice his regular speed, he will reach on time.

however does not act as fanboys as far as the capability to connect two Independent clauses go, if that's what you meant to ask.
