You can start by identifying the argument structure, i.e., premise, conclusion, etc. You can practice this while reading anything. Try to understand what the author is saying, what is missing, and why a particular sentence is there. Always go from wrong to right, first eliminate the wrong options, it will be much much easier to arrive at the right answer.
Another thing that helped me when I was stuck between two options was the negation technique.
And PRACTICE! Practice different types of CR questions to familiarize yourself with various argument structures and assumptions. After answering CR questions, review the explanations, especially for any mistakes, to understand the underlying assumptions.

You need to understand the argument well to answer all CR questions
While you are attempting to answer an assumption remember an assumption bridges the gap between argument’s premises and conclusion.
or we can say that premise + assumption = conclusion.
An assumption is merely an unstated premise.
By unstated we mean that any answer choice that comes from inside of the passage to support your assumption is necessarily incorrect i.e. assumption should be information not given in passage.
For assumption questions, find the conclusion and determine which answer choice needs to be true for a conclusion to be valid. (It must be a statement that completely supports the conclusion)
