I was reading the topic of subjective if & non if
there in the examples theses sentences were given
1. if he were sorry,he would have apologized by now.
2. I wish she were not going away.
3. she's already acting as if she were going to be promoted
4. Suppose she were to resign,what would you do then?
But in these sentences i found that everywhere were is used,so isnt the noun number conflicting in the existing sentence.Is there any special way to recognise these sentences as i found that every sentence can be written with a singular noun also

apurva subjunctive tone implies a hypothetical situation. Yes, you're right, subjunctive tone often breaks the Subject verb agreement rule. Just keep an eye out for hypothetical situations.
