OK... as per my understanding "main idea" is the core thought in the RC,

For example: a comprehension can be written about " How liberalizing labor laws in an economy leads to better business performance" while primary purpose can be things like providing evidence to support this main idea, or it can be providing evidence against detractors of the main idea, a passage purpose can also be a build up of reasoning to develop an idea etc. I am looking for suitable examples but RC is tedious to search for.

Hope this helps; would be glad to know thoughts of other members as well.

Main idea is what the passage is all about and purpose can be seen as what passage wants you to believe
