What is the logic pattern (in terms of if X then Y) of this question? Also is it logically correct?

1. My Dog Dylan loves being brushed. At the moment, he is not a happy doggie, so I can't have just brushed him.

2. Dylan barks loudly when he is alarmed or frightened. One night I woke up when he barked fiercely. I concluded that he must have been either alarmed or frightened, so I tiptoed down the stairs expecting to find a burglar in the house. Was my conclusion a logical one?

I dont have any OA. Just wanted to confirm my answers.

What is the logic pattern (in terms of if X then Y) of this question? Also is it logically correct?

1. My Dog Dylan loves being brushed. At the moment, he is not a happy doggie, so I can't have just brushed him.

2. Dylan barks loudly when he is alarmed or frightened. One night I woke up when he barked fiercely. I concluded that he must have been either alarmed or frightened, so I tiptoed down the stairs expecting to find a burglar in the house. Was my conclusion a logical one?

1) If just brushed (X), then happy (Y)

not Y (not happy)----> means not just brushed (no X)....logically correct

2) if X (alarmed) or Y (afraid) ---> barks loudly (Z)
barked loudly (Z) ---> must have been alarmed/afraid (X or Y).....flawed
Correct wud be ----> not barked loudly (not Z) ---> not afraid or alarmed (not X or Y)

Well, I got different answer for (1).

My Dog Dylan loves being brushed. At the moment, he is not a happy doggie, so I can't have just brushed him.

If just brushed (X), then happy (Y)
I can't have just brushed him --> he is not a happy doggie.
Not X --> Not Y (logically flawed)

Please correct me if I am getting it wrong..

no ur conclusion shud come on the RHS. As per ur original ques, ur conclusion was "I can't have just brushed him".

Does "I can't have just brushed him" here not mean that Author is thinking he should have brushed him (sentence is using "can't have).

How does that take into account other reasons that the dog may be unhappy?

If X, then Y => Not Y, then Not X
if I brush my Dog, he will love it => He is not happy, I can't have brushed him
CORRECT LOGIC.

2. Dylan barks loudly when he is alarmed or frightened. One night I woke up when he barked fiercely. I concluded that he must have been either alarmed or frightened, so I tiptoed down the stairs expecting to find a burglar in the house. Was my conclusion a logical one?

When Dylan is alarmed or frightened ==> Dylan barks loudly
Dylan barked loudly ==> alarmed or frightened.

Wrong Logic

Correct logic is :
If X, Then Y ==>
a) X then Y or
b) Not Y, Not X
