In prenatal testing for spina bifida, a life threatening disease, a false positive result indicates that an fetus has spina bifida when, in fact, it does not; a false negative result indicates that a fetus does not have spina bifida when, in fact, it does. I think this (or something like it) has been posted before. I think the answer should be (A).
B - This says there is not much difference, not a strong answer.
C - This is more of a weaken than anything else.
D - This suggests again, that there is no difference between the different test equipment, not a strong answer.
E - Kind of irrelevant...
(A) This suggests all equipment used for detection have the same false negative rates, so the most accurate test is the one with the lowest false positive. This corresponds with the original info.

I really had to think about this.
I was going under the assumption that a certain % of overall results would always be either FN or FP (false negative/false positive). But if FN is the same, and you want the most accurate test, you obviouslywant to minimize FP... otherwise it could be the case that the test with the lower FP rate has a higher FN rate (which could neutralize or cancel out the lower FP benefits).
