“None of the boys enjoys camping as he does.”

in one of the post of 'Beat the Gmat', this sentence is correct but Manhattan Sc says look at the 'of construction' after SANAM pronoun. Therefore above sentence should be wrong.

Please explain.

“None of the boys enjoys camping as he does.”

I think the sentence is correct as "None" is the subject here. None is singular, so singular verb "enjoys" is correct here.

You should look at this as "Subject" can't reside in prepositional phrase, here "of the boys" so "boys" can't be the subject of the sentence.

I hope, I'm right about whatever I wrote above. :)

I don't think the sentence is correct. In 'none of the X' constructions the subject is singular or plural depending on X...

Here X - boys (plural) so the verb should be enjoy (plural) ... the correct phrase is 'none of the boys enjoy camping as he does'...

There's a little parenthetical note at the bottom of the SANAM page that explains that "none of + plural noun" can be followed by both a singular or plural verb. Not all the SANAM words, just the word "none"--so you would never have a split in which the only grammatical difference was "none of" followed by a plural/singular verb. Hope this helps!

i agree none is singular therefore verb enjoys is correct.
