Up with rose is redundant and back with referred alters the intent.

Redundancy seems to be a common theme in this problem...

You don't need to say "in his opinion" and "he thought." We speak this way often:

"Personally, I believe C is the answer"

Remember, though: GMAT English and spoken English are two totally separate things! :-)

up with the rose is redundant, but how you can say that referred back is not the intended meaning?

though the answer A is not good, but don't you think E alters the meaning instead of B?

The reason why A is poorer among the others is that it uses the redundant words twice.

But the meaning of the sentence should be corrected before the concision, so the answer should be B.

opinion ..thought and referred ..back both are redundant.
that is essential for the restrictive clause here.

i kicked A, C and D becouse: "in his opinion, he thought" is redundant.

Left B and E and I left with because i liked "back"
