+1 for E.

C is wrong because of "in either ...".

Correct idiom "either X or Y" so that x and Y should be ||.

The only choice which is corect is E.

Hi Warlock007,
For your doubt. Let's replace c in original sentence.
There are several schools that allow students to eat their lunch in either the school cafeteria or outside on the playground.
Removing phrases so that we can see parallelism clearly.
There are several schools that allow students to eat their lunch in either the school cafeteria or outside on the playground.

So the idiom is Either X or Y. Where X and Y should be parallel.
Here "The school cafeteria" is not parallel to "outside on the playground". Why ? School cafeteria is parallel to playground not with the phrase "outside on the playground".

Please revert if any question.

I hope my explanation helped. If indeed then please give me kudos.
