I think (B)
"prepare for + gerund" is the correct form. Anyone confirm please?

I'd go with B.

E changes the meaning slightly. The definite article in front of "publication" changes the meaning from the act of publishing to a specific periodical or magazine.

I don't really like any of the choices because there is ambiguity as to whether Ira is doing the preparation, the publishing, or both. Dam'ed passive voice.

I'd chose C.
'prepared for publishing' sounds better to my ears.

I think I will go with D. All other choices except D seems to be RUN ON sentence. Though I am not too sure as all other choices sounds absurd to be.

Any suggestion is welcome.
