In Aristotle SC Grail it is said that 'when' can refer only to a specific time period, and 'where' can refer only to a specific location. Therefore, the following sentences are incorrect:
x When the price goes up, the demand goes down.
x To company where I work has gone bankrupt.
To me these sentences sound perfectly OK. Can someone please clarify.

I m not sure about the 2nd but the 1st looks fine to me...
lets see what others have to say.I think the reason why 'where' is used for specific location is to use 'in which' in case of virtual locations or places.
eg. The arrangement 'in which'
