However, I think the second clause has some problem. As per the tenets of //ism, you can afford to be elliptical in the second part, provided the subject or verb remain the same for both the parts.
However, the verb ‘are’ is plural because marks is plural; you cannot use the same plural verb for the second part because damage is singular.
The way to correct this error is:
1. but are there any noticeable marks or is there any noticeable damage on it?
2. but is there any noticeable mark or damage on it?

This is great daagh, exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't sure how to best correct it...I wasn't sure if #1 was adding redundancy and I was trying to keep 'mark' plural.
