[quote="banerjeea_98"]25. In bourgeois culture, where it is considered that running a machine is less noble than to be a lawyer or a metaphysician, parents often make great sacrifices to put their children through secondary school and college.

(A) where it is considered that running a machine is less noble than to be a lawyer or a metaphysician
(B) where it is considered more noble to be a lawyer or a metaphysician than to run machines
(C) which consider that running machines is less noble than to be a lawyer or a metaphysician
(D) which considers it more noble to be a lawyer or a metaphysician than running machines
(E) considering it more noble being a lawyer or a metaphysician than to run a machine

----------------------------------------------------------------------
(A) running ....is less noble than to be .... I think being is better. no parallel
(C) which consider ....
(E) change the original meaning. It's not paretents' consideration.
(D) more noble to be ... than running .... no parallel.

OA please

(B)

Let us examine the stem after removing the underlined portion:

"In bourgeois culture, where it is considered (... ), parents often make great sacrifices to put their children through secondary school and college."

The emphasis of the stem is on something abstract and not a specific activity like running a machine or being a lawyer. No culture would have explicit notions about running a machine, but it would definitely have explicit notions on morality. What (A) is trying to convey is that the bourgeois culture has certain specific notions about people who run machines, which is wrong. What it wants to convey is that the culture considers manual labor less dignified than knowledge based profession. That's the reason why parents emphasize on their children attending educational institutions. This idea is aptly conveyed by (B)
