D is strange but I think it's correct, the meaning is the good one and it's perfectly parallel.

D for me

There are 3 acts here after such as. We need to discard a choise that starts with and so "C" is out. E is out because we need and with E.
B is wrong. Incorrect use of preposition "IN", not parallel.
D somehow does not sound good to ears although I can't find any problem in it. The only thing I can think of is that we need 3 nouns. and A has all three
Space missions (noun), operating (gerund) in hazardous environments, and military operations (noun)

My pick is "A"

My pick for C.

A: we require noun and not verb (operating)
B: too wordy
C: sounds fine
D: operation in .. operations that -> not parallel
E: sounds as if military is a task.

Thus C is the best.

But what about distorted meaning in C?

original - 'military operations'

C - operations in a military environment - a totally different notion.

Currently, there is an increasing interest in multiple autonomous mobile robot systems due to their applicability to various tasks such as space missions, and operations in military or hazardous environments.

I have doubts about C, is there any official explanation ?
I also find strange to have a coma just before "and", the coma seems useless for me...

(C) .. fits to the T ... applicability to various tasks such as 'blah blah', and operations in 'blah blah'
