Legislation in the Candian province of Ontario requires of both public and private employers that pay be the same for jobs historically held by women as for jobs requiring comparable skill that are usually held by men.

(A) that pay be the same for jobs historically held by women as for jobs requiring compatable skill that are
(B) that pay for jobs historically held by women should be the same as for a job requiring compatable skills
(C) to pay the same in jobs historically held by women as in jobs of comparable skill that are
(D) to pay the same regardless of whether a job was historically held by women or is one demanding comparable skills
(E) to pay as much for jobs historically held by women as for a job demanding comparable pay

OA and OE to follow

Jobs must be compared to jobs, thus B and E are out. Pay should be followed by preposition for or no preposition rather than in, C is out. For D, IMO, pay should have an object here.
I choose A.

Yeah, the question itself reads pretty awkward. If it is supposed to be a tough one, , I'll go with A as did Himalaya!
"requires of" should be followed by "that". So, C,D and E are out!
"should be the same" in B is wrong! "requires that pay be the same" as in A is the most appropriate choice, IMO.

A is the lesser of the five evils, even though it is not a perfect sentence. Let the differences among the sentences guide you... Laxieqv zeroed in on the key comparison here: jobs to jobs.
