How about D for dangling modifier.

D corrects the ambiguos modifier -- it replaces a this ambiguity by defining a new clause "Because..." that has both subject and a verb.

D. We need dependent clause to make the sentence correct. so "because ......" in D does so.

D Ditto on the candidate nonsensically linked to board of directors.

It is a clear D.

A, B and C is wrong because it does not have a subject that is modified by the board of directors.

D and E uses a subject that has been modified.

the clasue need a finite article.... becasue Margaret is the only candidate.....

D uses an article and E does not...

So clearly D is the correct answer.

A, B, and C appear to make the Board of Directors the only candidate. Eliminating those three choices leaves us with D & E. Besides having "being" in the sentence (I never select choices with being in it), "E" alters the meaning of the sentence; it insinuates that she "only" had a proven record and nothing more.

D is the best choice.

D for me. We need a reference to give some meaning to the sentence. This is achieved with D.
