the sturcture is like X, Y did........

we can eliminate A, B and C for using wrong comparison

E makes the sentence awkward.

So D it is.

ok, I say i was going to bed, but you guys answer so fast!!

Anyway, OA is D.

But I have a question to everyone.
"Like" is used to compare nouns.
"As" is used to compare actions.

So...If the question starts by using "As John..." instead of "Like John..."
My answer structure should be like A, "As X did, Y did...."
And no longer "Like X, Y did..."

Am I right??? :?

Depends on the question and underlined part. In this case, Like is not underlines so you will to assume, its correct and look for the answer choices with correct noun comparision.

Yes, that's the basic idea. Then you have you be careful because you have to compare similar entities: people with people, animals with animals, etc...

You have to develop that critical eye.

Here immediately the idiom like x,y should pop before your eyes and you nail the qustion right.

Thank you all for your explanation!

I got it wrong initially because, I was so blindly enthusiastic to make sure I compare similar terms.
I simply compare "the action of John - did" against "the action of David - championed"
Neglecting other facts...

Thank you all!
