I pick D
1. we need "something not someone"comparing the death rates from heart disease ---so delete A ,B and C

2. D is better when comparing with " the death rates"
D. "the rate of fatty foods" consumed in France and the United States is about the same, the

I picked D as well....


But OA is B. now I can't find anything wrong with D. Can somebody explain what is wrong with D?

B : "People in...... consume fatty foods at the same same"

D doesn't make any sense.

i picked D) as well...but i think its wrong because "consumed" refers to "rate" and that distorts the meaning.

Vote for B.

I think the rate in this question is the rate of people who consume fat food, not the rate of fatty food consumed. So D is out.
