C sounds good to me.

E seems wrong because it implies that the treatise is arguing directly.

'C' correctly implies that "it's a treatise that advocated"

"a treatise" needs to modify Discourse on Women

"That" is needed to modify treatise & introduce a restrictive clause following it.

i chose C) as well ! but i think its E) because "advocate" is different from "argue" and when 2 sentences are correct we should use the one with "argue" b/c it reflects the intended meaning of the original sentence...

I go for E.

"arguing in a treatise" seems to convey that author is arguing instead book is arguing. So A, B are out.

C and D uses "advocates". Here I think "christoph" explanation is correct

So I think "a treatise arguing" seems correct, which is E.

I would go with E on this...

here is why...what is being tested is the "connectors"...here that in C is a restrictive clause and is not needed...E is best..

yes, the slight difference between C and E: the use of "advocates" versus the use of "arguing"

the title of the book/ document( or sort of ) "Discourse on Women" . "Discourse" means "debate" ---->suggest that the book's content involves arguing -----> "arguing" is more precise than "advocates" in the context.

Also, I doubt the use of present tense for "advocate" in C is correct. It should be expressed in past tense.

IMO, present tense in C is nothing wrong because what the book advocates cannot be in past and is always in present tense. SO the tense is ok.

but i doubt "advocates for" is not correct and the correct one is "advocates" only....

IMO, present tense in C is nothing wrong because what the book advocates cannot be in past and is always in present tense. SO the tense is ok.

well, i soon knew the tense in C can be present ...just that i wondered if the book still exists now :P

like you, i also think there's no preposition "for " for "advocates" ...the verb can stand alone
