I think in order to modify top speed of 250 miles per hour, we need a non restrictive modifier - which.
and we are comparing the top speed of mclaren with the top speed of other car.
only D uses non-restrictive modifier and uses the correct comparison.
so D is my answer.
This is why
Naking rules our forum!!
OA is D.
OE:
Spot the Error:
Comparisons. Anything that includes trigger words that involve comparative adjectives or adverbs should attract attention. Here the "higher than" should be questioned.
Rule and Fix:
Comparisons must be balanced, unambiguous, accurate and parallel. Here the top speed of the McClaren is being compared to other automobiles when the top speed of the McClaren should be compared to the top speed of other automobiles.
POE:
Since the idiom is incorrect eliminate A and any other answer choice that commits the same error. This eliminates A, B and E.
Chunk and Compare:
C and D. Both C and D use the acceptable relative pronoun "which" but also include other relative pronouns to indicate the top speeds are being compared. C uses "those" and D uses "that". C should be eliminated because the relative pronoun should be singular to agree with the singular "any other". Eliminate C.
Reread your choice:
Choose D.
