This is best of the rest case...would have clicked on 'E' (Though 'E' also sounds wrong)

But I'm not convinced that others have selected 'A', can anybody tell me, why can't 'which' refer to "United States' in 'A'?

antecedant of 'which' is ambiguous & that is not tolerated in GMAT!

Vivek,
Even i had selected E...thinkinh tht "which" has no clear antecedants... That's why this ques in here in GMATClub

Andy, be****f,
This is very poorly constructed SC, what is the source of this question?
Better don't take this SC seriously. I came across one similar OG question where 'which' is used this way & that choice has been thrashed out...

I am just curious, when would you use "which". I always have trouble with this type of SC question.

"which" is often preceded by a comma in the sentence and should always refer to a noun immediately preceding it. Also, 'which' often introduces a non-restrictive clause that could be eliminated without chaning the meaning of the sentence.

However, in this case, "which" seems to incorrecly modify "US" when it should've been modifying "110 million"
