I'd go with C even though it is a little confusing. TLC can only come second and not third.

Between B or C, I`ll take C even though "or" is still a little unclear.

Choose B, because Cold Molasses has to be on the first place and Three-Leg on the second.

In C: Three-Leg Charlie can't finished as third because there is no horse between him and Cold Molasses. Therefore C is out

Andy,

All other are certainly wrong. This is the only possibility which may happen. TC can be second but not third.

Agree here. I just cannot comprehend how charlie can finish third. It may only happen when 2 is missing from the number system?

conclusion :

C1. CM finished first. ( no horse finished ahead of CM)
C2. BB finished last ( no hourse behind BB)
C3. TLC can be first or third but since there is no horse ahead of CM, TLC has to be third)

A is out (based on C1)
B no information provided in the pessage but we know BB is last. This fact about BB is IN the passage). So, B is out
C it's possible but not sure yet... let's continue
D .. again CM finished 1st. Thus, TLC cannot be the 1st to finish & we know BB is last.. So, D is out
E is out ( based on C1 again)

So, C is the only possibility. I think trying to get conclusion first b/4 we even go solve the question is the best strategy.

i picked "C" and as i eliminated the other choices.

now TLC can finish 3rd if there was another horse that finished jointly 1st with CM. So the first 2 positions are taken by the 2 horses that finish 1st. The 3rd position is taken by TLC.

far-fetched theory ? could be true..
