Is it not E? Pls explain me why not E i m stuck with this.

The Correct Answer is E...not sure why you are stuck when the OA and the option you choose is already E

Option C is not the answer. Because it changes the meaning of the original sentence by replacing 'founded' by 'found'. Here Norway did not find NATO, but instead founded it. * Founded means establish, launch or set up.

Hope this clarifies :-)

Hi Tridhipal,

Thank you for your question. Since the entire sentence is underlined, let's go through each sentence individually and look for any problems. With sentences that have a lot of modifiers, two good things to look for are subject-verb agreement and misplaced modifiers. So let's start with looking at those issues and see if we can narrow things down:

A. Norway, a constitutional monarchy in Northern Scandinavia, is one of the wealthiest countries in the world and NATO was founded by it along with eleven other countries in 1949.

The main problem with this sentence is that it's a run-on. There should be a comma between "world" and "and." The part about it being a founder of NATO is also awkward and not in the best place. It sounds like an afterthought - like the writer forgot to add it in and threw it there in a hurry. So let's rule this one out as INCORRECT.

B.Norway, a constitutional monarchy in Northern Scandinavia, and a founder of NATO along with eleven other countries in 1949, are one of the wealthiest countries in the world.

The problem with this sentence is subject-verb agreement. Norway is a singular subject, but "are" is a plural verb. So this one is INCORRECT.

C.Norway, a constitutional monarchy in Northern Scandinavia, is one of the wealthiest countries in the world and found NATO along with eleven other countries in 1949.

Norway didn't find NATO, it helped create NATO. Since this is the incorrect use of "find," the sentence is INCORRECT.

D.Norway, a constitutional monarchy in Northern Scandinavia, are one of the wealthiest countries in the world and founded NATO in 1949 along with eleven other countries.

This sentence also doesn't use proper subject-verb agreement, so it's INCORRECT.

E. A constitutional monarchy in Northern Scandinavia, Norway is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, and in 1949, it founded NATO along with eleven other countries.

This answer is CORRECT because it uses proper subject-verb agreement, and the modifiers are placed so they make the most sense.
