Straight E

"recently discovered" means "had" out. B and C out.

A has modifier problem. "a fabric previously thought to have been invented 632 years later." is modiying "scientist".

D also has modifier problem. "After being preserved since approximately 1345 AD" is modiying "scientist"....

E the best choice.

A - Modifier problem. woven acrylic by a scientist, a fabric previously
B - Awkward "a recently discovered Native American artifact had been recently "
C- Very awkward...modifier problem also
D - Scientist was preserved since 1345 AD........wow (modifier problem)

Agree with E.

Does the clause "a fabric previously thought to have been invented 632 years later." modify the thing that immediately precedes it or the subject of the first clause.
