C? no idea what also-ran is...

by POE... being is no good in B and E...

A seems to say he went to local hero, as if it wasn't him, so I think it makes less sense than C

D is wordy

its B. use of being is not always incorrect. if it is used as noun, it is ok. here being is used as a noun, which is correct.

B seems the best.

Since also-ran is a noun ....... the use of being is justified.

You nailed it buddy. I remember a sentence from movie Toy Story, which my two and half year old son watches everyday: "Being a toy is far better than being a space ranger."

i think "also-ran" kind of confused all of us.. I also chose B..
When we use "-" the phrase containing "-" becomes noun..

So From Noun1 to Noun2 - is what's tested..

You are right. "become" is a problem here. I somehow read "become" as "being" i.e
"being an also-ran to being a local hero".... :oops: :oops:

It is a Kaplan SC. Structurally, there is nothing in the sentence to prevent me to look at it in the context of "Bee went from A flower to B flower....", but obviously this wouldn't make sense.

IMO A ..
I think that "also ran" here means ordinary athelete ..
Sentense conveys that ...after winning a championship athelete becomes hero from zero ( ordinary athelete ) ..

Hope that this is not so weird reasoning ..
