A. have captured the imagination of astronomers far decades and are. - Correct choice as it's referring to plural discoveries, "have" and "are" both are in agreement with plural discoveries
B. has captured the imagination of astronomers far decades and is - Wrong because "discoveries" is plural and verb( has , is) is singular
C. having captured the imagination of astronomers for decades and being- No Main verb
D. have captured the imagination of astronomers far decades and is- plural discoveries singular verb "is"
E. having captured the imagination of astronomers for decades, is the
-having is verb -ing form , and cannot work as main verb here
"Is" cannot refer to plural "discoveries"
