I'm confused with the OA in this.

This April, three out of seven people will file tax returns with a disk found in software stores and accounting texts.

A. tax returns with a disk found in software stores and accounting texts
B. a tax return with a disk found in software stores and accounting texts
C. tax returns with disks found in a software store and an accounting text
D. tax returns with a disk found in a software store and an accounting text
E. a tax return with a disk found in a software sotre and an accounting text

OA later..

I'm going to go with B here.

Split#1: 'a tax return' over 'tax returns'. I think what the author is trying to say is that each of the 3of7 people will do their own taxes. Therefore, singular is best here. Otherwise, plural indicates that each of the 3of7 people will be doing multiple returns...which i don't think is the case here.

Split#2: 'software stores' over 'a software store'. In this case plural makes the most sense as it's hard to imagine that this April ALL the people will be flocking to this one particular store for this disk. Each person will require a disk that they will find at their respective local stores.

Let me know what the OA is.

Cheers,
jjhko

Can anyone explain why not A?
3 people right? So shouldn't it be 'tax returns' and not 'a tax return'?

Confused. :?
In D, "tax returns" seems correct while in B, "software stores" makes more sense.
Also picked D.

Wonderful. I will go with B.
three should be followed by singular a tax return. Software stores, plural makes more sense here. Jhinko your explaination is excellent. Thanks
