My answer is B because emit is parallel to burn.

thanks UVS mba, unfortunatelly the answer is A. I agree with you though which is why I still don't see why is A better than B. Can anyone help out?

HI,
1 reason I could see for A is in the last word h'having' which is a wrong modifier. It implies that gasolin Engines have been implicated for global warming. Whereas it is the gases that have been implicated.

Not Sure.. But I am pretty confident that I am right..

Tough but I am saying B. "Emit" should be parallel to "burn", and "having" is clearly subordinate, describing the gases...

I can understand u r thought Diegmat.. But that's exactly the trap GMAT guys have set.. remember we hv to select the best answer not the correct one ..

In this case B is modifying the whole meaning of the statement whereas A is just not parellel.. Tht's hw I a m taking it as.. even I could hv chosen B if I had attempted this question 1st time ..

The problem with A is that "...as well as..." always connects like terms. So, burn -> emit, as in B.

The problem with B is that 'that have' is the correct form to use here. It is the gases that are modified, not the gasoline engines.

Use the better choice? What is better? A sentence with a parallelism problem, or a sentence with a verb usage problem? :roll:
