The usage of AND in answer choice (C) may also be worth having a second look at!

Hi, I'm new here so I don't know if there's already a subject to ask questions or if it's ok to create a new topic.

About a sentence correction question I'm kind of puzzled :

to attract the most talented workers, some companies are offering a wider range of benefits, letting employees pick those most important to them.

A) benefits, letting employees pick those most important to them.

B) benefits, letting employees pick the most important of them to themselves

C) benefits and letting employees pick the most important to themselves

D) benefits and let employees pick the most important to them

E) benefits and let employees pick those that are most important to themselves

The correct answer is A. But as I read the official gmat correction (this is an official question) I needed some explanations about others answers.(C especially)

C : themselves is supposed to modify "pick" or "most important of them" if I refer to the correction. But isn't it supposed to refer to employees instead ?

A : I could argue that "those" is unclear, does it refer to benefts or employees ? same for them, is it for employees or benefit ? I know I get something wrong in the reasoning, if someone could explain to me please. Thanks
