Agree with C. B is a hypothetical case(If I were), but the main argument mentions the the study as completed(A study on couples' retirement transitions found that). So a relative comparison (more than is used ) to compare two sets of people here. One who took new jobs and one who retired.

Great guys. Now what does 'so' refer to in C. I believe 'so' in C refers to 'reporting' and not to'martial satisfaction'?
I agree B can't be answer and C is the best among given choices

A study on couples' retirement transitions found that women who took new jobs after retiring from their primary careers reported high marital satisfaction, more than when retiring completely.

A. more than when retiring

B. more than if they were to retire

C. more so than those who retired

D. which was more so than those retiring

E. which was more than if they had retired

'if' represent an hypothetical case and 'was' an reality happened in past. Outcome of hypothetical event can't be reality, hence use of 'was' is wrong here.

Thanks

Looks like C to me, D and E are wrong because they introduce "which" and of the remaining 3, C is the best choice...

OA???
