"Since" the advent of makes logical sense.

I will go with "E", because correct idiom is either "as much as", but there is no comparison being made out here. So we use POE and narrow down to "D" or to "E".

Out of d and e, e is concise and clear and conveys the meaning of the sentence.

Since does not give the reason,.....reason is given by "because". Since gives the time from which this.that started to happen!..... 8-)

Go for the meaning of the sentence!

The technique of X, blablabla, has not been used ?????? the advent of Y.

You can't compare technique and advent, so it has something to do with time (A), (B) or (D). (B) gives us clearly a time, when this technique wasn't used anymore. So it is, as already mentioned before, (B). Best regards!

Though the OA's already been posted, I have a doubt...sorry. On top of the point raised above, I don't see any clause after since. Someone pls tell me why E is wrong. Thanks in advance.
