I prefer D rather than E because E contains two passive verbs.

The meaning is interesting

I will go for "C"
The author is trying to emphasize the features of the product, not the company's claim.

In "A" it sounds as if the cosmetic company is enhancing th eappearnace, preventing blemishes..blah blah
->Modifier problem.

In "C" the meaning of the sentence is changed. It sounds like "preventing blemishes" and "reducing aging signs" don't contribute for enhancing the
appearance.
"or so" is used with quantities.
Eg: He will leave in a week or so.
Adv. 1. or so - (of quantities) imprecise but fairly close to correct; "lasted approximately an hour"; "in just about a minute"; "he's about 30 years old"; "I've had about all I can stand"; "we meet about once a month"; "some forty people came"; "weighs around a hundred pounds"; "roughly $3,000"; "holds 3 gallons, more or less"; "20 or so people were at the party"

in "D" and "E" the meaning of the sentence changes becuase of th ecommas around the restictive clauses.

Using POE I pick B

I go with D.

However, the only catch in D- it modifies the intended meaning of the sentence !

orig sentence says Skin is enhanced as a result of reduction in blemishes and aging .. however D treats them as different parallel factors.

A) Misplaced modifier
When used together modifies products
B) Grammatical error - ...will be enhanced by the product by their preventing blemishes...
C) too wordy
also is not needed
not parallel
D) they is not clear to be either cosmetic company or products
E) this is clear

E it is

Yup,D changes the meaning a little...but it is the best of the worst.

E is passive...the reducing phrase modifies the entire previous clause changing the meaning.

I was between C and D, but D is the best answer.

A and B, modifier errors

E - passive voice

OA is D

D changes the meaning, but OE claims that D maintains the meaning
and fixes parallelism

Even though I agree that D fixes parallelism the choice sure does change the meaning

This is a question from Cambridge

I looked up on the net for sentences with "their preventing " and came across this one :

At the end of the message, the ad gave a brief list of things that the Democrats are protecting by their preventing a vote on several of President Bush’s judicial nominees, a list that prominently included "a woman’s right to choose."

Can someone explain by B is incorect?

After relooking D & E based on the comments, it appears that D is the better of the two.

E is more drastic in terms of changing the meaning of the sentence where it states "the appearance of the skin will be enhanced and blemishes will be prevented reducing the signs of aging"
the original sentence does not imply that appearance + blemish prevention -> reduced signs of aging

There's no doubt that the meaning in D is slightly dissimilar since the original sentence suggests that the enhancement in the appearance of the skin is through blemish prevention and reduced signs of aging

D it is but this whole critical analysis exercise sucks
