what is wrong with E?

The original sentence states: abandoned by the rulers on Olympus.

'Rulers' is plural, therefore, it requires 'gods or goddesses.'

My take on this is E.
As he looked on an expanse that seemed empty of either a god or a goddess

"he looked" is a singular....

Im liking A.

B: Looked out on an empty expanse of Gods or Goddesses... This implies an empty expanse with Gods or Goddesses

C: Very awkward.

D: "Facing" goes against the tense, which in this case is past tense or "-ed."

E: While I struggled with this one too, I selected A because the last part of the sentence says, "rulers." To me, this implies the plural form Gods or Goddesses. "Odyssues is singular", so why would "he" be plural???

B. As he looked out on an empty expanse of gods and goddesses – empty expanse of gods?? What is he trying to say???

C. With no gods or goddesses as he looked out on the empty expanse – Were they there??

D. Facing the empty expanse of gods and goddesses - empty expanse of gods??

E. As he looked on an expanse that seemed empty of either a god or a goddess – Subject Verb Agreement.


B,D - Wrong context. Sentence is confusing!!!!

left with A, C & E
C - Wrong context. Were the gods there???
E - Elimnate. Subject-Verb.

Hence A is the answer.
