'was' required for logical switch between simple past and present tense.

1,3,5 - left

3 - 'which' points earths earliest days - out

1, 5 - hard choice.

1 for me too.
5 says " having sporadically erupted" which is past tense while we require present.

OA is A .. key point is Adverbual modifier can be placed anywhere in the sentence and should not necesarily touch the noun ...
