I'm not very good at SC yet, but I'm taking the advice to talk through my logic and then see if it helps
I say E, primarily beacuse "Because" is preferred in GMAT to "Since" or "Being"
but, secondarily
A - each of them doesn't work for me
B - close, but discounted because of 'since'
C - 'all of them' close, but discounted beacuse of 'since'
D - which doesn't fit, neither does was (verb-tense agreement)
E - the men is quite specific, and beacuse is the preferred idiom.

C seems to be the clear answer to me. "Since all of them were" is perfect.
