I will go with A- nothing wrong in it
"like"is preferred for "as", as nouns are compared... so eliminate D and E
C is awkward
B living in two worlds after American leader doesnt sound good

Pick A. Since we are comparing 'Joseph' to 'many others', 'like' should be used. That Joe lived in two worlds needs to be emphasized, which is only done in A (everywhere else it is put within commas making it sound like extra info).
